The next season of Marvel Rivals is set to come out on Friday, October 10. The season will bring Daredevil, a new Duelist, many new skins, gameplay features, and more content that hasn’t been revealed yet. In the latest Dev Vision video, NetEase revealed that the massive update will bring cross-progression, one of the most requested features.
Season 4.5 will bring an early access version of this feature. In other words, it will be limited to a small group of players, which will be invited by the game developer. However, just a month later, the new Marvel Rivals feature will be rolled out for everyone.
When will cross-progression come to Marvel Rivals?
Guangyun Chen, creative director of Marvel Rivals, revealed the release of cross-progression with Season 4.5. “We’ve heard the community’s requests for cross-platform progression. We have made it a top priority, and it’s been frantically cooking in development behind the scenes,” Chen said in the latest Dev Vision.
Chen revealed that the feature is now ready, but it won’t come out for everyone just yet. Instead, NetEase will test it on a group of players before releasing it for everyone. This safe approach ensures that the feature will be polished and working properly once it comes to live servers.
“To ensure a smooth launch, we’ll first invite a small group of players to test and provide feedback during Season 4.5,” Chen clarified. He concluded the segment by revealing that the cross-progression will come to Marvel Rivals in Season 5.
It’s important to note that cross-progression and cross-play are not the same thing. Marvel Rivals already has cross-play, although it’s not available in the ranked mode. Cross-progression will allow players to transfer their progress, including skins, to another platform. Considering that the game recently came out on PlayStation 4, this is certainly a move in the right direction.
The release date of Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 is October 10, and this is when we will get the first look at the new feature.
