Upcoming MMO Marvel Heroes, also known as Marvel Universe Online, will be using the Unreal Engine 3, according to Gazillion’s Secret Identity Studios boss Jeff Lind.

The third-party toolset is being used in order to customise the game as smoothly as possible, Lind explains:

“We […] love the flexibility we get from the actor components, which have empowered us to make all kinds of customisations without sacrificing the built-in features of the engine.”

While it’s still very early in development, the MMO will allow players to take on the roles of classic Marvel characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.

No release date has been announced.
