Wii U hardware sales in Japan were on the up following the release of Mario Kart 8 at the end of May, but since then there’s been a gradual slide back down to the kind of weekly figure seen prior to the game’s launch.

For the week ending June 22, Media Create reports Wii U sales of 10,715, down from 12,249 the week before. On the week of MK8’s release Wii U sales more than doubled from 9,024 to 19,312 units.

This past week Mario Kart 8 charted at No.3 in Japan, with an additional 28,112 copies, bringing life-to-date up to 469,316.

PS4 sales were also down week-on-week to only 7,009 units.
