SEGA has today announced that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games will be released for Nintendo DS early in 2008.

The game has been created specifically to take advantage of all the DS’ features and includes 16 Olympic challenges, two of which are exclusive to the handheld: 10m Platform Diving and Cycling. The game also features eight Dream events, five exclusive to the platform: Dream Canoe, Dream Boxing, Dream Basketball, Dream Long Jump and Dream Shooting (Skeet).

Play as any one of 16 characters – eight from the world of Mario and eight from the world of Sonic – each with their own talents and special abilities.

We’re also promised a wealth of multiplayer options, including single and multi-card options. Enjoy single events or circuit mode with up to four players and there will also be the ability to upload high scores to worldwide leaderboards using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
