GamePolitics, via numerous sources, has confirmed that Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum has expressed concern over the upcoming release of Rockstar Games’ Manhunt 2 on Wii.
Unlike the PS2 and PSP versions, Manhunt 2 on Wii will feature motion controls that simulate slashing, stabbing and clubbing. For this reason, McCollum will focus all his attention on the Wii game, with the PS2 and PSP versions seemingly avoiding trouble.
“Attorney General Bill McCollum is concerned about any games which may instil violence in children, particularly games that encourage children to engage in violent behavior, even in simulation,” reads a statement from A.G. McCollum’s Press Secretary. “He believes it is important to help protect children from influences which may introduce violence into their lives and stresses the importance of parental involvement in the efforts to keep these influences out of our homes and away from our families.“
Manhunt 2 is scheduled for release on July 13 and is highly likely to carry a BBFC 18 rating in the UK, making it illegal for retailers to sell the title to anyone aged under 18.
