Before the iPhone 4 was announced last year, technology blog Gizmodo got hold of the device after it was sold to them by a man who found it lying in bar. After handing over the cash, Gizmodo proceeded to reveal it to the world. Brian Hogan, the man who gave the blog their scoop, has now been charged by police.

Hogan, who found the Apple device in a bar, managed to sell it for $5,000. He is now being charged with handling stolen goods and the misappropriation of lost property.

Robert Wallower, who was also found guilty of shopping the phone around to various blogs, is also being charged.

Both could now face up to a year in prison and fines of over $1,000.

Gawker Media-owned Gizmodo, however, is not being charged with anything.
