A teenager who bought a photo of an Xbox One on eBay has been given a full refund – and a free Xbox One from retailer CeX.
The 19 year old father-of-one was donated the free console on Saturday, after hitting the headlines for spending £450 on an image of Microsoft’s system believing it was the real thing.
“I’m just overwhelmed by the reaction to the story,” said Peter Clatworthy, who intended to purchase the console for his four year old son McKenzie. “All I wanted was a refund. I cannot believe this.”
“This shows there are some nice, kind people out there and it’s really overwhelming. I can’t thank them enough.”
He added: “I think McKenzie is going to be over the moon. this is the thing he said to me that he really wanted. I can’t wait to see his face, it’ll be a picture.”
Clatworthy previously said that he thought the eBay listing for an Xbox One photo was actually for the console because “it was in the right category”.
CeX, of course, is known for its ‘charitable’ behaviour. It’s currently asking Christmas shoppers to shell out £520 for a PlayStation 4 – £170 above RRP. Xbox Ones, meanwhile, are priced £550 at the retailer – £120 above their ordinary selling price.
