The Malkavians are the final clan coming to upcoming undead RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, it has been confirmed.

Revealed by Rock Paper Shotgun in an interview with someone we've almost definitely never heard of, narrative lead Brian Mitsoda confirmed the addition of the vampires often portrayed as the most mentally unstable vampire clan in the series.

'The Malkavians, I think first and foremost, they’re all about dementation,' Mitsoda said, 'Dementation not only has dialogue implications, but of course it’s got combat applications, but not in the way that the Brujah might where it’s just very much direct damage. With the Malkavians it’s basically about sowing chaos.'

Specifically, their abilities are set to include Haunt, which causes people to flee or, once levelled up enough, even drive them Beserk which will make them attack other people indiscriminately. Their other major ability, Auspex, allows players to see through walls and mark individuals which can itself be upgraded to allow a vampire to manifest a Psychic Projection that can itself fly through walls and be used to scout ahead through the maps.

Elsewhere in the interview, Mitsoda also talks about the portrayal of the Malkavian clan, and how heightened awareness of mental health issues in the fifteen years since the previous Bloodlines release creates challenges for the team in tackling a clan of characters often depicted as 'crazy'  – it's definitely worth a read.

The full reveal is set to take place on an official Bloodlines 2 Twitch stream later today. In the meantime, here's the clan reveal video. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is set to launch for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2020.
