Cooking Mama publisher Majesco has said that its future is in “substantial doubt” after experiencing financial losses.

In an SEC filing (highlighted by MCV), the firm said that it had recently “implemented a reduction of [its] workforce” to reduce costs, ranging from its development and game-testing department to marketing and support personnel.

“We are currently not developing any significant new games for release in fiscal 2015,” the publisher added.

In an effort to stay afloat the company is also seeking a strategic buyout or merger.

“As discussed in our quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the quarterly period ended July 31, 2014, we have suffered losses that raise substantial doubt about our ability to continue as a going concern,” reads the filing. “Accordingly, we are evaluating various alternatives, including reducing operating expenses and personnel costs, securing additional financing for future business activities, and other strategic alternatives including a sale or merger of our company.”

As well as the Cooking Mama series Majesco has previously published Zumba Fitness, Psychonauts, BloodRayne, BlowOut and A Boy and his Blob.

It also owns indie label Midnight City.
