TV and movie streaming service Netflix is now available in the UK, chief product officer Neil Hunt has announced.
Netflix members can stream TV programmes and films instantly over the internet to smart TVs, game consoles, computers, tablets and mobile devices. The service costs £5.99 a month, but you can try it free for one month by signing up via Facebook.
The firm claims to offer thousands of films and TV episodes, including The Only Way is Essex, Prison Break, and Damages (watch from the pilot episode all the way through the last complete season) and films such as 3:10 to Yuma, Blitz and The English Patient.
If your broadband connection supports it, Netflix also promises high definition video and surround sound.
A special section for kids is also available, providing suitable content via the Wii and PC – other platforms will also offer the kid-friendly section in the future.
You’ll find more information on the Netflix website.
At £5.99 a month for unlimited streaming – including high definition where available – Netflix provides a tempting alternative to the established LOVEFiLM service from Amazon. However, its poor range of new release content means you’ll have to be content with a large range of older titles.
