During the Games Convention at Leipzig last month, news that Lost Planet might not be an Xbox 360 exclusive began to emerge. The information came from Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi, but it seems that for the time being the publisher has no plans to release Lost Planet, or for that matter Dead Rising, on any platform but the Xbox 360.

For games such as Lost Planet and Dead Rising, the Xbox 360 was the target platform,” Takeuchi told Gamespot. “Since they have been created specifically to take advantage of the system’s capabilities, we have no plans at this time to port or develop these titles for any other console.

Xbox 360 fans can now rest easy in the knowledge that the PlayStation 3 won’t be getting these titles – at least not any time soon. But when can we expect the game to make it to retail for the Xbox 360? Takeuchi revealed to Gamespot that Lost Planet “will ship globally this winter… I’m happy to confirm it will ship this coming January.

That’s certainly something to look forward to in the post holiday season come down.
