As we reported yesterday, Capcom is gearing up to release a hefty sounding update for Lost Planet on PC. Today we can confirm that the update will be released on July 20 and will auto download when players load up the game.

New features include new playable characters, Frank West of Dead Rising, Joe from Lost Planet and Mega Man. The update will also include several new view modes, including a Resident Evil 4 style view and a new Wide view. Multiplayer will also be updated and a movie mode will enable players to watch the in-game story sequences back-to-back.

There’s more good news for PC players, with Map Pack #1 scheduled for release on the same day for free. This pack includes Radar Field, Island 902, Hive Complex and Trial Point. The total size for pack 1 will be 400 MB.

Xbox 360 players are in luck too. Map pack 1 and 2 will be offered free of charge as of July 20. These map packs include the same maps as those found in the PC Map Pack 1. Xbox 360 players can also look forward to a new patch which should address connectivity issues – although this is expected to roll out at the end of the month.
