Capcom today announced that Lost Planet 2 is being developed for Xbox 360, but made no mention of the game coming to either PS3 or PC. The sequel to the 2.2 million selling action title was exclusively announced on Xbox LIVE earlier this week.

Lost Planet 2 is set ten years after the events of the original, with the landscape having evolved dramatically. Successful terraforming activities have caused the planet’s ice to melt, giving way to tropical jungles and other new environments. Players will now follow the exploits of their own customised snow pirates on their quest to seize control of E.D.N III. The plot will evolve from various perspectives, something Capcom hopes will create a more engaging experience.

Capcom also notes that is has spent a considerable amount of time reviewing community feedback and incorporating it into Lost Planet 2. Built using Capcom’s MT Framework 2, the game will take full advantage of the improved technology.

In additional to offering a “deep” single player mode, Lost Planet 2 will also offer four-player co-op, enabling players to come together online and battle the Akrids. Capcom notes that the game will offer the “most extensive multiplayer campaign seen in a shooter to date”.

More information on Lost Planet 2 will be revealed in the upcoming months.
