Nintendo has announced initial sales figures for its new toys-to-life range Amiibo, revealing Link to be the most popular figure amongst fans.

Sales of Amiibo are “approximately equal” to sales of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in the United States, Nintendo says, suggesting that around 710,000 figures have been sold so far. Mario and Pikachu are the second and third favourites.

Global sales of Amiibo have yet to be confirmed.

Whether the three figures will remain the most popular, however, remains to be seen. Earlier this week it was reported that Nintendo had discontinued production of Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer Amiibos, spiking demand for the figures as fans rush to snatch them up before they sell out entirely.
