The digital versions of LEGO The Lord of the Rings and LEGO The Hobbit have been deslited from the PlayStation Store, Steam, and Xbox Store, it has emerged.

Punters are no longer able to pick up the fantasy adventure games on PlayStation, PC, or Xbox platforms, in a move which is almost certainly related to the expiration of various licenses.

A Reddit thread speculates that this is to do with the fact the LEGO games featured dialogue and music from The Lord of the Rings movies. On the other hand, Middle-earth: Shadow of War hasn't been removed from digital storefronts, but doesn't include content from the films.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings was released in 2012 on PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, and Xbox 360, with LEGO The Hobbit following two years later. Both games follow the events of the Peter Jackson-directed movie trilogies of the same name, rather than being a direct adaptation of Tolkien's novels.
