TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have officially confirmed that LEGO DC Super-Villains is in development, following a series of subtle-as-a-sledgehammer teases on Twitter last week.

LEGO DC Super-Villains, obviously, puts the focus on the Big Bads of the popular comic book franchise, so you'll be mixing it up alongside the likes of The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, and more. Their goal however, isn't world domination, but to save the globe 'from a greater evil.'

Players will be able to create their own Super-Villain during the campaign, which features a narrative penned in collaboration with DC.

Fresh powers and abilities can be unlocked as you progress through the story, with various customisation options up for grabs plus the ability to invite a mate in two for some two-player co-op fun.

The story itself revolves around the disappearance of the Justice League, leaving things open for the parallel universe-dwelling Justice Syndicate to rise to power. Naturally, it's up to the DC Super-Villains from the Legion of Doom to battle against this new threat and set things straight.

'LEGO DC Super-Villains provides players a fun and humorous way to cause mischief by unleashing their DC Super-Villain’s sinister powers and amusing abilities,' commented TT Games' Managing Director, Tom Stone.

'With an unprecedented amount of customization options to choose from, players can create and customize their character at the start of the story, unlocking new powers and abilities as they progress through the funniest LEGO game to date.'

LEGO DC Super-Villains is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One on October 16.
