Legendary Pictures has released a Q&A detailing some of the fan questions asked at the film’s comic-con panel.
The panel was attended by scriptwriter Mark Protosevich and Mass Effect series executive producer Casey Hudson.
The Mass Effect movie will be a “completely new story” as opposed to an adaptation of the first three games, and it is undecided whether a trilogy of movies will be made – the studio says it will see how the first one performs first.
The movie will feature a male Shepard (sorry, FemShep fans) and he will, as expected, be the character the film is focussed on. Legendary Pictures is unprepared to talk about casting at this point.
Legendary Pictures did confirm that Seth Green wouldn’t be playing Joker.
When asked how the film would include Mass Effect’s signature branching paths, the studio conjured up this unbelievable pearl of nonsense: “a movie narrative is different than gameplay. There won’t be a choice aspect to this film, just a normal film narrative.”
BioWare, however, is open to allowing the movie studio to change details of the plot and its characters.
“We are working closely with BioWare on the development of this project,” says the FAQ.
I’m not sure how much faith we can put in the Mass Effect movie when the movie studio incorrectly spells the name of its protagonist as Sheppard. Chuffing eejits.
