Following last month’s announcement that Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie had been pushed back to a summer 2009 release, EA has followed suit and delayed the video game which will now release globally alongside the movie.

Both the movie and video game had been scheduled for release later this autumn, but Warner Bros. delayed the movie citing summer 2009 as the “ideal window for a family tent pole release”.

“We’re excited about the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game in development and its high level of authenticity and playability,” said Robert Nashak, Vice President EA Casual Studios. “We are creating an immersive game experience that Potter fans around the world will really enjoy playing as they fly and duel their way through the story of the film. The game will feature new Wii gestures and increased gameplay capabilities across all of the platforms.”

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is in development at EA’s Bright Light Studio and will be released for the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS, PC, Mac and mobile devices.
