Despite crossing intellectual swords, Lara and Amanda were never enemies. Amanda studied every religious and mythical system in the world, and had a theory that “fragments of a single, long forgotten mystical belief system exist within the rites and rituals of shamanism, witchcraft and many religions. Her dream was to rediscover this supreme knowledge from the past and teach it to people so they could gain spiritual enlightenment.“
While excavating a tomb in Peru, which Lara believed to contain the last queen of Tiwanaku, her team of students breached a new room and all hell broke loose. Lara survived, but as she and Amanda were escaping, Amanda set off a trap sealing herself within the room. Amanda will appear in Tomb Raider: Legend as Lara’s nemesis, but on completion of the game players will be able to play using the Amanda character model.
Tomb Raider: Legend is scheduled for release on PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC on April 7, with the PSP and Xbox 360 versions arriving later in the year.
