Gamers picking up Rockstar’s LA Noire in May will certainly get their money’s worth; the main story is said to take up to 30 hours to complete.

During a PAX East demonstration, Rockstar revealed that playing through the game’s 23 “assigned cases” will take roughly 25-30 hours. This will be extended further by taking on “unassigned cases” that help build the backstory of secondary characters.

And beyond all that, Rockstar plans to release DLC cases via Xbox LIVE and PSN.

LA Noire will be released May 20 for Xbox 360 and PS3.

30 hours plus certainly sounds like a hefty return for what will be a £40 outlay, but length doesn’t necessarily relate to quality. The pacing of a game like Heavy Rain, which could be played from start to finish in a few evenings, was part of its appeal.
