According to data compiled by the NPD Group for the month of June, Rockstar Games’ LA Noire has held on at the top in the US monthly video game chart.

The crime caper sold an additional 419,000 units during its second month on release, adding to the impressive 899,000 units shifted during May.

This was enough to fend off competition from Take Two’s Duke Nukem Forever with 376,000 units and Sony’s inFamous 2 with 369,200 units – the latter would have been top in a single-format chart.

Elsewhere, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is at No.5, with Nintendo confirming sales of 283,200 units.

According to a Tweet from IGN’s Jim Reilly, two titles not in the Top 10 faired very differently.

“June NPD sales for Shadows of the Damned are pathetic. You can forget about a sequel. Alice: Madness Returns did much, much better, however,” said Reilly.

Meanwhile, it was the Xbox 360 which dominated the June 2011 hardware chart, shifting over half a million units.
