Konami have announced that its long lived and critically acclaimed Castlevania series is coming to the Nintendo DS, under the imaginative working title of Castlevania for Nintendo DS and is being developed by Koji Igarashi and the team behind Aria of Sorrow.

Set in the year 2036, the game carries on the storyline of Aria of Sorrow on the GameBoy Advance and also features many of the same characters – So good new for the large fan base of the GameBoy Advance title, then.

Of course we can expect the DS version to feature touch screen features and other hardware specific advancements for the series. A special magical seal system that works through connecting symbols with the stylus is included as is a wireless trading system, with players exchanging the souls of their enemies with friends.

An autumn release date for Europe has been announced. We’ll have more news on the title in the coming months.
