This news means that Hudson is now a subsidiary of Konami, after the publishing giant purchased an extra 3 million shares in the company at a cost of ÃÂ¥1.43 billion (£7 million), raising its stake in the developer from 45% to 54%.

This acquisition comes as something of a ray of light for Hudson, especially after the resignation of the company’s co-founder Hiroshi Kudo, who left last November under the cloud of a forecasted ÃÂ¥7.3 billion (£36 million) loss for the financial year ending March 31st 2005.

The 33-year-old company, best known as the father of the Bomberman series, first came under partial Konami control in 2001, when Konami began purchasing shares in the studio. Konami “expects its acquisition of additional shares will strengthen Hudson’s net worth and will support and enhance its organisation.”
