Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid creator and Konami’s vice president of digital entertainment, has said he wouldn’t use LA Noire’s MotionScan technology in his next game.

Team Bondi pioneered MotionScan for the 10/10 scoring LA Noire, and Kojima agreed that the “technology is absolutely fantastic.” But he doesn’t want to use it in his next game. “For the next game I want to make, it isn’t necessarily the technology I need, so I don’t think it goes along with the next game I would like to create.”

While Kojima’s latest title is still unknown, you’d assume his propensity for lengthy, cinematic cut-scenes would have made him desperate to get his hands on the technology. Kojima does admit that he’s visited the MotionScan studio to see the facial animation kit in action:

“I’m very interested in [LA Noire], and I’m waiting for it to be released in Japanese,” he told EDGE. “I haven’t played it yet but I was able to go to the studio where they were [performing the facial capture].”

Despite not currently wanting to use the technology himself at the moment, Kojima does think it might have changed the future of the adventure genre forever:

“This technology, regarding facial expressions – that affect the outcome of the game – I think that’s a huge element that from now on will change the direction of adventure games,” he said.

Before E3 2011, Kojima was believed to be unhappy about having his next game cancelled. “What I prepared minutely spending a year became meaningless,” said the Metal Gear Solid creator on Twitter.

Team Bondi has also been in the news concerning alleged “sweatshop conditions” at the Australian development studio. Leaked e-mails this week also suggest that Rockstar won’t publish Team Bondi’s next game.
