Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima has posted images of what appears to be a brand new Zone of the Enders game for Nintendo 3DS.
Speaking on Twitter this morning, Kojima shared an image containing a plastic replica of Orbital Frames (a mech that fans of the series will be familiar with). Of more interest, however, are the words concealed behind it, which appear to read “Z.O.E.” and “3DS”.
While the abbreviation ‘Z.O.E.’ could, of course, be mistaken for ‘3DS’ backwards, the periods have been removed, which suggests that Kojima may in fact be working on a portable edition of the mech-brawler for Nintendo 3DS.
Shortly after, Kojima Tweeted another image, this time containing an image of Japanese and English text. This second image appears to be a direct reference to the upcoming Zone of Enders HD collection, with the notable word “Anubis” being yet another nod to the lead Orbital Frames in the games.
During E3 2011, however, Hideo Kojima confirmed the return of Zone of the Enders on the current generation of consoles. The Zone of the Enders HD Collection, which features both PS2 titles in 1080p HD, will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 some time next year.
