Like an exclamation mark above the head of a wandering Genome soldier, Metal Gear Solid writer/creator/director/nutter, Hideo Kojima has caused the game industry to hide under the nearest cardboard box by wading into the next-gen debate with his concerns over PS3 development.

Concerned that not everyone can live up to that high standard that Sony expects from PS3 developers he feels that the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Revolution may benefit from studios operating with lower budgets.

Using an amazing analogy about going out for dinner, Kojima thinks that “PS3 would be like a dinner you only have once a year or twice a year on your anniversary.” Keeping with the theme he thinks that the Xbox 360 will be something you can have “two or three times a month” whereas the Revolution will be “the kind of great dinner that you have every day at your home”. The problem arises when one starts asking questions like “how much will the dinner be, will it be worth the cost and where can I have this dinner” thinks the Japanese producer.

Presumably he went on to continue the theme to include the PSP being like a Marks and Spencer Pizzatilla, the DS like a Tesco BLT and the Gizmondo like an out of date pack of Space Raiders.
