Neowave is the first King of Fighters game SNK has developed for the arcade that hasn’t been based on NEOGEO technology. The game features an all-new fighting system, said to make the game more accessible for all skill levels, not just the hardcore King of Fighters players. Also new to the game are high-res backgrounds and new sprites that take advantage of the superior hardware.

Players will be able to choose from three fighting styles: Max 2, Super Cancel, and Guard Break. These ensure the game features the tactical depth series veterans have come to love. The character roster is also pretty packed, with 43 to choose from and more characters to unlock as players progress through the game.

The King of Fighters Neowave is scheduled for release this summer on the PlayStation 2, together with a version on the Xbox which has previously been announced.
