Kinect for Xbox 360 has now reached life-to-date sales of 10 million units, Microsoft has announced.
The sales milestone comes one year after the all-body controller launched in 2010.
In celebration of the milestone Microsoft released the video you can see embedded below.
Microsoft also announced that it will launch the Kinect for Windows commercial program early in 2012 – designed to broaden the scope of the device’s real-world applications.
Microsoft’s updated sales figure for Kinect does, however, highlight the significant slow-down in sales for the device; Kinect sold 8 million units in its first 60 days, meaning the next 10 months only added a further two million units.
No doubt Microsoft will expect to sell a significant number of units in the Christmas period, although the second wave of Kinect titles don’t appear to have had the same success as the launch software – Kinect Sports Season Two charted at No. 18 and Dance Central 2 is struggling to make an impact on the top 40.
