Epic Games vp Mark Rein has revealed that Unreal Tournament 3 for PlayStation 3 will fully support keyboard and mouse peripherals. Epic’s Steve Polge also believes that this has been implemented in a way so not to gimp either set of players: Sixaxis and keyboard & mouse.
“… users will be able to decide if they want to play against kb/m players or not so they can decide and make the appropriate choice,” said Rein over on the Epic Games forums. “I think it will work out just fine. I’ve been playing the game with the Sixaxis and it plays wonderfully.“
Keyboard and mouse support for the PS3 obviously opens up the possibility to take on the PC gamers on a level playing field, although Rein notes that “cross platform play isn’t decided yet“.
Rein also responded to questions concerning the Xbox 360 version, but was unable to offer any new info.
“As soon as we have a better idea on 360 release timeframe and features we’ll announce it but don’t expect any news on it before the end of this year,” he said.
Unreal Tournament 3 is scheduled for release in November for PS3 and PC.
