Keanu Reeves has spoken about video games and the video games industry, in comparison with Hollywood, and he has said, 'I don't think they need legitimising.'

In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Reeves was speaking about his recent appearencce at E3 and his role in Cyberpunk 2077.

He was asked about games, especially their relation to the other art forms, and whether or not they need legitimising. He said: 'I don’t think they need legitimizing. If anything, I’d say it’s gone the other way. It’s more of the influence gaming’s had on… let’s call it Hollywood.'

He then went on to say that games were influenced by Hollywood and vice versa, and he talked about the presence of motion capture technologies in films as far back as Superman, in 1978 – in which Marlon Brando was digitised in some shots.

It's an intriguing interview, and one well worth watching. It's refreshing to see someone like Reeves expound on the history of two mediums that regularly brush up against each other.

'I think these technologies have been talking to each other,' he said.
