Avalanche Studios may be gearing up to announce Just Cause 3 next week after alleged screenshots of the game leaked online.

In a message posted on Twitter, studio founder Christofer Sundberg thanked fans for their patience following the leak, before adding: “Enjoy the silence for a couple of days now. You have nothing to worry about. Promise.”

Could Sundberg be hinting at an imminent announcement of Just Cause 3? Quite possibly…

Sundberg also made moves to allay fears that the game could be free-to-play, tweeting:

“We currently have ONE F2P game [The Hunter] and it’s been out since 2009. I hope that helps you guys getting some sleep. Doesn’t change my opinion though.”

Just Cause 3 has long been rumoured to be in development, with Sundberg’s LinkedIn profile previously stating that the studio is working on a “unannounced action sandbox game” in a “very well-known game series”.

Square Enix declined to comment when contacted by VideoGamer.com.
