Bob Ross became somewhat of a cult celebrity in the US during the ’80s and ’90s thanks to his unique appearance, happy demeanour and unquestionable ability with a paint brush. His show, The Joy of Painting, can been seen here in the UK on the Discovery Channel and Ross could be described as Tony Heart with an Afro. Ross died in 1995, but his name lives on through the business he left behind, which up until now had focused on painting supplies and kits.

An official announcement on bobross.com revealed that a painting game for the DS, PC and Revolution is in development by the AGFRAG Entertainment Group. The game is currently untitled, without a release date and is also seeking a publisher.

I grew up watching Bob Ross on PBS and was always in awe of how quickly and smoothly he made these beautiful paintings, which helped inspire my creativity,” said AGFRAG Director of Development Joseph Hatcher in a statement. “There are generations that know Bob Ross and his painting techniques, and I want to share his talent with future generations in a new medium.
