Zipper Interactive, developer of the SOCOM series and MAG, has lost a number of employees in a new round of layoffs, Kotaku reports.

Sony has attributed the staff cuts to “normal business practice and a result of cutting back on production resources after the launch of two major franchises.”

Sony didn’t specify how many staff lost their job.

Given the development cycle of a project – ramping up staff when required – the news of losses is no massive surprise given that SOCOM 4 hit stores earlier this year.

We’re more concerned as to why we haven’t heard anything on a sequel to MAG yet.
