Sony might be looking to offer the option to download and play games offline for PlayStation Now users.

Nothing official has been confirmed yet, but a user on Reddit spotted a 'download game' option while pausing a title over PS Now.

This was clearly accompanied by the following description: 'Return to Game Detail and start downloading the game.' So yeah, it looks like it's happening.

Presumably this would apply to PlayStation 4 titles, as Sony's current-gen console isn't capable of emulating PS3 games.

PS Now is a subscription-based service that allows you to stream games to your PS4, although depending on your Internet setup it may not offer the smoothest gameplay experience.

As such, the ability to download games would solve the issue for those who are experiencing latency and a drop in visual quality.

Hopefully Sony should spill the beans on this feature soon enough.
