Is Twitter down? Server and network outages reported

If you’re wondering if Twitter is down – recent server and network outages might just fill you in.

After we tried to log onto Twitter – we experienced the following issue:

According to Down Detector, Twitter has very recently seen outages reported from 12:45 GMT onwards.

Our natural response after reading this news was to search Is Twitter down on Twitter, and then we hit an obvious roadblock. Unable to access the service, we were entirely in the dark. However, after trying on another browser, we found that it was possible to access the site.

It seems as though logging in via Firefox causes issues for some, while other browsers were also unable to access the site. We also found that Twitter functioned just fine through the mobile app, leading us to think that the issue was centralised to the desktop web application.

At the time of writing, nearly an hour after the issue was originally spotted, Twitter is still experiencing reported outages. It seems as though the issue is not affecting everyone, and select pockets of people are unable to access the service.
