Right off the bat Microsoft has been referring to its motion controller technology as Natal, but Sony has persisted with a no name approach for its wand and ball creation.
It would appear that the controller does, however, have a name. If EA CEO John Riccitiello has his facts right, it’s called Gem.
“In the coming year, both Sony and Microsoft have announced new controllers. Motion sensor controls, Natal and Gem, these are likely to bring new consumers into the marketplace,” said Riccitiello during a conference held in New York City earlier today.
Gem might of course be an internal code name for the motion controller, or an acronym: G.E.M..
Sony has refused to confirm the accuracy of Riccitiello’s information, stating that “no official name for the PlayStation motion controller has been announced”.
