id software lead programmer Brian Harris has hinted that Doom 4 is headed to next generation platforms.
Asked on Twitter what he was up to now that Doom 3 BFG is out, Harris said: “Currently home taking care of a new baby girl. When I get back, I’ll help port the big project to new platforms.”
The questions are: What is the big project? And what are the new platforms? Given id has been working on Doom 4 for years now, this would be a safe bet. As for the platforms, next-gen systems are expected to be announced in the coming months.
According to LinkedIn, Harris was lead programmer on Doom 4 until January 2012, at which point he moved over to Doom 3 BFG. Is he now returning to the sequel?
