DICE’s Battlefield 3 is currently not available to download via Valve’s digital store, but that might be changing. According to a report on Kotaku, updated installation files for Punk Buster have revealed that the FPS is coming to Steam.

Battlefield 3 is currently only available to purchase digitally through EA’s Origin store, which the game’s Battlelog system also uses.

VideoGamer.com awarded the console game an 8/10 in its Battlefield 3 review, but almost solely because of the multiplayer component. “The multiplayer mode is nothing short of essential, but at the same time it’s hard not to be sorely disappointed by everything else on show.”

Providing EA can integrate Battlefield 3 with Origin via a Steam download, it would make excellent business sense for the publisher to bring the game to Valve’s service.
