It’s been rumoured for quite some time that Infinity Ward will develop Call of Duty 6, taking back the franchise reigns again after Treyarch developed Call of Duty: World at War. Fans will be pleased to hear then that Activision Blizzard has confirmed this to be true at an Analyst Day.

With that settled we’re now left wondering when we’ll see the game. Over the past few years Treyarch and Infinity Ward have released a game a piece every two years, meaning we’ve had a new CoD game every year since Call of Duty 2 in 2005. Activision Blizzard CEO Mike Griffith reportedly mentioned both a 2009 and 2010 release date for the game at the event, suggesting that we might be in for a wait after the release of World at War.

We’ve contacted Activision Blizzard for clarification and will bring you an update as soon as possible.
