G4 has obtained an internal Activision memo written by Activision publishing president and CEO Mike Griffith.
While the memo mirrors much of what is said in the publicly released press release concerning the future of the Call of Duty franchise, it also specifically mentions Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward.
After confirming the departure of Jason West and Vince Zampella, Griffith said: “Infinity Ward remains central to Call of Duty’s future and we rely on the combined talent, expertise and leadership of the team there for its success.”
Thus far Infinity Ward’s future involvement with the Call of Duty franchise has been confirmed as working on the “first two” map packs for Modern Warfare 2, but Griffith’s memo suggests more will come – perhaps the confirmed 2011 Call of Duty title.
