Hot on the heels of APOCALYPS3 come reports that Infinity Ward studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West may have left the Modern Warfare developer, following an alleged breach of contract with Activision.
According to G4, both West and Zampella met with Activision over night, later to disappear. A bunch of “bouncer types” then took station at the Infinity Ward studio.
An Activision filing gives a clearer idea as to what has been going on.
“The Company is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward,” Acitivsion states in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. “This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation. At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company.”
According to West’s Facebook and Linked In pages, he is no longer working for Infinity Ward.
Earlier today, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling posted on Twitter, revealing he is in the dark over the situation: “I should also say, while I appreciate all the calls, tweets, messages and hearing my ringtone a lot. They’re in vain – as I have no info.”
Activision plans to release a new title in the Call of Duty franchise later this year, developed by one of its wholly-owned development studios.
