Infinite Crisis, a MOBA featuring a roster of DC Comics characters, will be released for PC in 2013, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have announced.

The game is in development at Turbine, the studio behind The Lords of the Rings Online.

Player vs player battles will take place in the DC Multiverse – a world in which DC Comics characters have been re-imagined into twisted incarnations of their usual self, such as Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman.

Also confirmed are Gaslight Batman, Gaslight Joker, Green Lantern, The Flash, Poison Ivy, Wonder Woman, Shazam, The Joker, Zatanna and Doomsday with the game boasting characters inspired by the 52 worlds of the DC Multiverse.

In Infinite Crisis a sudden assault threatens the DC Multiverse. All realities stand on the brink of annihilation. Now, the last hope for Earth lies in the powers of the DC legends.

The game is described as a next generation MOBA, offering fast-paced battles, streamlined RPG mechanics, and iconic locations where catastrophic events can reshape the map and the environment itself can become a weapon.

“We are thrilled to bring Infinite Crisis, a truly competitive experience featuring the DC Comics lore and characters, to the MOBA genre,” said Martin Tremblay, president, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Turbine is a pioneer in online gaming and combined with the amazing world of DC Comics, they are executing on a game concept that expands the MOBA genre.”
