As announced during Nintendo's big E3 show yesterday, Konami is releasing a new Contra game. Contra: Rogue Corps is a sequel to Contra III: The Alien Wars (Super Probotector: Alien Rebels in Europe); the trailer below gives you a better look at what you can expect when this launches, as well as a sneak peek at the characters available to you. One of them is a panda, which is obviously brilliant.

Kaiser is a big hulking soldier-type who has a drill where his left hand should be, Hungry Beast is a big panda with a human brain, Ms. Harakiri has a Krang-like figure living in her abdomen, and Gentleman's a weird insect lad. How could you not be mildly excited by this?

As well as solo for the lone wolves, you can play Contra: Rogue Corps in couch co-op or online. It launches September 24, 2019, on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch.

If you want to remember how it used to be, you can grab the Contra Anniversary Collection which is out right now on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch, and bundles 10 classic games from the series in one neat package.
