Polarity-switching shoot-’em-up Ikaruga looks set to make the jump to the PlayStation 4, if a listing on Germany’s ratings board is anything to go by.

The critically acclaimed title was originally released in arcades back in 2001, and was later ported to the Dreamcast, GameCube, PC, and Xbox 360. As you can see, a PS4 release would mark the first time Ikaruga will be available on a Sony platform, so it’s a pretty big deal.

Ikaruga turned heads upon its original release, mainly due to its unique gameplay spin. The shifting polarity mechanic actually encourages you to soak up hits from enemies, allowing you to absorb damage and turn it into powerful homing lasers. Combine this with its vibrant graphics, addictive multiplayer, and challenging game modes, and it’s not hard to see why Ikaruga has gained such a loyal following.

We should probably mention that this isn’t official yet just in case, although rating boards tend to have a pretty decent track record when it comes to outing game releases. Still, we’ll keep you posted.
