Dark Energy Digital will be releasing Hydrophobia Prophecy to Steam across Europe and North America tonight at 6pm.

Get your pre-order in before 6pm to secure a reduced price of £7.63. After this time the game will return to £8.99.

The game is an extensive reworking of Xbox LIVE’s water scare title that received a largely negative reaction from reviewers when originally released.

This Steam iteration takes a page from Hydrophobia Pure, an update of the Xbox LIVE title that substantially overhauled many aspects of the original game.

This time the game sees even more changes, which includes “upgraded graphics, brand new gameplay mechanics, exclusive new levels, a reworked back story, a dramatic new ending, recast voice acting”.

Dark Energy also introduce a new real-time feedback system, Darknet, which allows users to automatically give feedback to the developers. Darknet is an improved version of the Hydrophobia Listening Post which was a system originally presented as a series of questions of the game’s website that allowed players to comment on the game.

Even after the soul crushing reviews that came out after Hydrophobia’s original release Dark Energy Digital have come out looking like a surprisingly ambitious and audience-oriented developer. It’s nice to see a company so stubbornly focused on improving their game.
