Crytek's monster-slaying PvP/PvE mashup Hunt: Showdown is heading to the Xbox Game Preview service, Microsoft announced during its Gamescom showcase this afternoon.

Hunt: Showdown has been knocking around for a few months now, having entered Early Access on PC since February. There's no word on when exactly it'll arrive on Xbox Game Preview, but we imagine it'll be pretty soon.

As you might have twigged from the title, Hunt: Showdown has you on the trail of various creatures in the game's open-world setting in the hopes of bagging a valuable gold bounty.

Hunt is a team-based affair, so you'll be setting off across the wilderness with a group of mates in tow as you not only topple various creatures, but rival teams too. As you progress, you'll level up and acquire new gear, though watch your back — if you die, it's permanent.

Your overall goal is to face off against various boss monsters (the trailer showcased a giant spider as an example), where defeating them will banish them to hell. From here, you can escape with the bounty, but not before other players will have a chance to pinch it from you.

It all looks pretty cool from a visual standpoint, and adopts a western-style theme complete era-appropriate weaponry.
