Microsoft will address Xbox One’s 50Hz TV playback bug in next month’s firmware update, an alleged post on the official Xbox forums has confirmed, with new instructions released detailing how you’ll be able to fix the problem.
Picked up by NeoGAF, the post (which only appears to be visible to those invited to beta test the update) reveals that PAL users will need to enable a 50Hz option introduced with the new update to remove the screen judder currently being experienced.
“Customers that have cable, satellite, or TV set top boxes which output 50Hz can now configure Live TV for optimal performance,” reads the post. “In order to configure this setting, follow the steps below:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select TV & OneGuide
3. Select Troubleshooting
4. Select Video
5. Select Enable 50Hz to enable this setting.
“Please try out this new configuration setting and give us your feedback on your experience.”
It isn’t clear whether the update will also address streaming services like Netflix which are also reported to suffer from judder on Xbox One.
The post follows comments made by Xbox UK marketing boss Harvey Eagle yesterday who said that a fix would be coming “within weeks”.
The update is due to roll out to all Xbox One users in early March.
