Players of the PC version of Dark Souls 3 are encountering a game-breaking crashing bug which rears its ugly head upon reaching the first bonfire only minutes into the experience.
Bandai Namco hasn’t made a statement regarding the bug – though no doubt a fix is in the works – but users on the Steam Forums have discovered a work around which should see you continue on your adventure without issue.
The fix is a simple one, simply wear a full helmet (covers the character’s face and hair) and the game appears to avoid crashing at the bonfire. A Knight class will give you the option to use such a helmet.
The bug is said to be related to the game’s lighting, with many users also successfully avoiding the crash by changing the Lighting setting to “low”.
