Team Cherry, the developers of forthcoming Metroidvania platformer Hollow Knight: Silksong have given a post E3 update on the upcoming sequel, though it looks like we may have to be a little patient before we know when we can get our hands on it.

The game, revealed back in Feburary, is progressing well, having made a playable appearance on the show floor at E3 thanks to Nintendo, and the latest update blogged on the game's Kickstarter page also reveals Greymoor, one of the new areas in the game that promises to be bigger than any area from the original Hollow Knight game.

The update also gave us some information on heroine Hornet's new skills compared to her predecessor, tied to the amount of silk she can produce. When she has enough – gained from striking enemies – she has the ability to Bind, healing her wounds and allowing you to continue the fight.

Hornet will also be more talkative than Hollow Knight, and we're promised a wealth of extra dialogue, with Team Cherry going so far as to say that writing all of Hornet's new dialogue has provided quite the challenge for the team.

In closing of the update, Team Cherry have said why there's as yet no release date for Silksong, saying that they want to take their time getting Silksong right: 'For Silksong we’re running on Cherry-time over here, that means both ‘When it’s ready,’ and ‘When it matches the quality and scale of Hollow Knight.’ Just know, we will talk about a release date when we’re 100% certain we can hit it. ' They continue: 'The last thing we want to do is make promises, only to see things slide. '

It's a bit of a shame, but we'd much rather see the game done well rather than rushed and the team put under undue crunch just to have a release date, so we can wait a bit longer for Hollow Knight: Silksong to turn up whenever it does on Nintendo Switch and PC.
