Gameplay director Christian Elverdam has stated he would like to bring out new Hitman titles more regularly, in an interview with CVG.

In response to whether he would be comfortable with a yearly turnover for future titles in the series, Elverdam stated: “All I can say is I’d like to be able to come out with a new Hitman game sooner than the six years this one has taken us…”

Explaining why the upcoming Hitman: Absolution has taken so long to develop, he added:

“Well, as you know, we’ve been building brand new technology. We call it the Glacier 2 engine.

“We actually got to build that from scratch, so we had a chance to look at all of the previous titles and basically ask ourselves what the important areas to Hitman were, and how we could improve them.”

Hitman: Absolution is the fifth title in the Hitman series, and is set to release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 next year.
